Transitioning to 2021 E/M Guidelines
Start planning now for the upcoming changes to E/M codes. Physicians, office staff, and coders will all need to prepare. A couple of the changes include deleting CPT 99201 (E/M for new patient) and modified criteria for medical decision-making. See the physician fee schedule on CMS’ website.
OIG Work Plan
The work plan is updated with new items including the impact of health risk assessments on risk-adjusted payments in Medicare Advantage and Medicare capital payments to new hospitals. See the OIG website for more.
Privacy Tip
Do you sometimes travel on the plane for work and need to access protected health information (PHI)? Installing a privacy screen on your laptop will help prevent those sitting nearby from viewing PHI.
